Right-first-time: cutting reprocessing with ΔE

Reprocessing quietly eats margin. Here's how a numbers-first shade approval brings it down.

Every reprocess is dye, water, steam, machine time and a delayed delivery — paid twice. Most of it starts with a shade approved by eye. Moving approval to a ΔE (CIEDE2000) number removes the argument at the lightbox and makes "pass" mean the same thing on every shift.

Set a tolerance and hold it

Agree a ΔE tolerance with your customer per quality, store it against the shade, and let QC pass/reprocess/reject against that number. Now the operator, the QC person and the buyer are reading the same value.

Watch the trend, not just the batch

When you log every reading, patterns appear — a machine that drifts, a dye lot that misbehaves, a shade that's always borderline. That's where the real savings are.
